With her personal life on the rocks, it’s going to take a whale sized miracle to keep her afloat.

Event planner Fiona Reeves did not have her husband’s sudden departure on her schedule. However, she’s certain that it’s only a hiccup and he’ll be back in no time, begging for forgiveness. Fortunately there’s a distraction of mammoth proportions swimming in the River Thames.

Absorbed by the story of Martha the sperm whale, Fiona attempts to carry on life as usual as she awaits her husband’s return. However, nothing can prepare her for the dramatic turn of events that throws her life into ever greater turmoil. The road ahead has many paths and for Fiona it’s time to sink or swim.

Fiona and the Whale is a poignant and often hilarious contemporary fiction novel. If you enjoy topical tales, second chances and a little bit of romance, you’ll love this new book from the Kindle Storyteller Award Winner, Hannah Lynn.

Q&A

– When and where do you prefer to write?

Early in the morning. My brain works best as soon as I get up.  As I have recently moved house, I’m currently writing at the dining room table until I get a desk sorted!

– Do you have a certain ritual?

Start writing. That’s it. Because I still work as a teacher I don’t have many spare hours in the day. As soon as I can get started, I do.

– Is there a drink of some food that keeps you company while you write?

When I use to write in a coffee shop I would always get a lemon tea. The problem was as soon as I started writing I would forget about it so it was always cold by the time I remembered to have a sip.

– What is your favourite book?

Probably Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman.

– Do you consider writing a different genre in the future?

I love writing different genres. I read all sorts so I find myself writing all sorts too. My first novel Amendments is a dystopian time-travel romance, very different from my other books.

– Do you sometimes base your characters on people you know?

I would say I steal odd characteristics from people I know, but not whole characters.

– Do you take a notebook everywhere in order to write down ideas that pop up?

Normally I would jot the idea down on my phone, then put it into a document I have when I get home.

– Which genre do you not like at all?

I’ll read anything, although I tend not to read to much Historical Fiction. Not that I don’t like it, I just always have so much on my TBR pile

– If you had the chance to co-write a book. Whom would it be with?

Neil Gaiman. No questions there!

– If you should travel to a foreign country to do research, which one would you choose and why?

At the minute, with my book Athena’s Child on its way, I could do with a little Greek island hopping. Although I’ve been fairly lucky with travelling in my life, so I take what inspiration I can get.
