The Bus Ride by Joanie Chevalier / #Interview #MiniBlogBlitz @rararesources @JoanieChevalier

When Devon discovers his car stolen, he must find transportation to get to his destination before the deadline to get what’s rightfully his: the urn containing one-fifth of his deceased momma. He hops on Bus No. 255 and changes the course of the route. As the passengers’ personalities and needs emerge, they go from being strangers to a bonded family within hours as they fight for each other, and themselves… in more ways than one. Funny and sentimental, this story will grab your heart as you cheer everyone on Bus Route No. 255, maybe even the busnapper.

Meet the passengers on Bus No. 255, an unlikely group of people who have no choice but to try to get along and survive when their bus gets busnapped. Meet Devon, who has a deadline he must meet, or risk losing what’s his; Doug, a dreamer of a better life, but first must face a sad truth; Frankie, a life full of loneliness, but unexpectedly becomes a hero; Gloria, a woman who finds validation in the most unexpected place; Autumn, a girl who desires a family, and a sense of belonging; Dave, a man seeking justice and equality, learns to love himself as he is; and the Garcia family, whose family ties brings them to the brink of danger. Follow these passengers as they each fulfill their destinies, together.

Q&A

– When and where do you prefer to write?

I prefer to write in the morning when my brain is high on caffeine, lol. I live and travel in my Class C RV so I like the small quiet space. It’s perfect for concentrating (as well as looking out the big window at nature).

– Do you have a certain ritual?

No I don’t. Even writing my books, I write what I call the “exciting parts” first and then the other parts later. It’s a bit like putting a puzzle together at the end.

– Is there a drink or some food that keeps you company while you write?

I like wasabi peas or something else spicy to keep me going.

– What is your favourite book?

From my childhood, Charlotte’s Web. I love the idea of animals being able to talk to one another. From my adulthood, the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. Romance and adventure, all in one!

– Do you consider writing a different genre in the future?

All my books are in different genres. That’s the way I read too. I love the variety. I have a few novellas in the humor genre, one in thriller genre, one book in horror (like a B-horror movie), and one in YA. I also have a few short stories in two of the Corona Book of Horrors. Hmmm, what’s next? Time will tell!

– Do you sometimes base your characters on people you know?

Yes, some are indeed based on people I know. They may not recognize themselves though. And I’ll keep that a secret to keep the peace. :o)

– Do you take a notebook everywhere in order to write down ideas that pop up?

No, but I have a phone where I can jot down ideas. Note to self: don’t lose that phone…again.

– Which genre do you not like at all?

I don’t read much fantasy, i.e., werewolves and vampires. But I like fairytales, or the remakes of fairytales as I find that so creative.

– If you had the chance to co-write a book. Whom would it be with?

Oh boy. I don’t know. I would probably go with a talented indie author though.

– If you could travel to a foreign country to do research, which one would you chose and why?

Probably Egypt. I would love to research pharaohs and the gods and goddesses for a love story. Or knowing me, I’d probably write a humorous story about a cat who was a goddess.

Thank you for your support. I truly appreciate it! ~ Joanie
