Time to Wake by K. Thomas / #Interview #BlogTour @zooloo2008 @SenlisHasWings

Senlis is your typical artist. Empath, hater of mornings, and the bearer of a strange name passed down from her grandmother. With a penchant for caffeine and a pet ghost, she’s just trying to live her best life. Did she mention she also happens to devour souls? No? Well, it’s a bit of a conversation killer… no pun intended. When new neighbors move in across the street, Senlis strikes up an unexpected friendship with the equally quirky Katie. The two get mixed up in a party circuit that leaves a string of missing girls– and a trail back to Senlis’ less than human origins. At the center of it all is Hunter: a guy not smart enough to keep his distance. He’s arrogant, frustrating, and terribly distracting… Just, please don’t tell anyone she admitted that last part. Is Hunter involved in the mysterious murders? Or is he just in the wrong place at the right time? As she tries to figure out Hunter’s motives, Senlis ends up learning what it means to be a Nephilim, and how her past is playing a role in the murders. “Time to Wake” is the first book of a new-adult paranormal romance series brimming with suspense and quirky laughs!

Q&A

When and where do you prefer to write?

I’m a night owl – most my writing is late into the night. I do have an office, but many times I end up writing in bed.

Do you need peace and quiet when you are writing?

I listen to music while writing. I have entire playlists I pick out based on the mood of the chapter and lyrics that go with the book theme.

If you had the chance to co-write a book. Whom would it be with?

If we’re talking traditionally published books, I’d say Laurell K Hamilton. In the Indie world, R. Raeta would be my choice. Her work is so lyrical, I think we could make something very different for readers.

Say someone asks if they can use your name in a book. Would you rather be the ‘good one’ or the ‘bad one’?

As long as the character is well written, I’m happy!

Who would you like/have liked to interview?

I would have loved to interview V.C. Andrews. To understand how she outlined her books and series, and what initially prompted her idea for her formula.

Where can I find you when you are reading?

Hiding under the covers.

Where can I find you when you are not writing/reading?

Probably at my day job or crafting something with my daughter.

What goes through your mind when you hold your new book in your hands for the first time?

Usually a very high-pitched squealing sound. I won’t try to type that here.

How do you come up with a title for your book?

I decided I wanted something that was two or three words and went with the plot. When you get two-thirds of the way through the book, the title makes sense. Until then, it’s a little snappy and fits the main character’s personality (morning-hating caffeine addict).

How do you pick a cover for your book?

I wanted something that matched the book but didn’t want a person on the cover. It’s important to me that readers can put themselves in the body of the main character, and that

means leaving her more open for interpretation than having her on the cover would allow. There is a material scene that matches the trees and fire, which I had mentioned to the artist, and this is what she came back with. It was love at first sight!

About the author

K. Thomas is a human, not a talking cat. This is her first novel. She meant to publish one sooner, but fell in love with her day job. Unlike her main character, she likes numbers and budgets, almost as much as she likes words.

Her debut novel “Time to Wake” received a warm literary welcome with five star reviews from IndieReader and Readers’ Favorite, as well as being awarded the 2021 Readers’ Favorite Silver Medal in the New Adult Genre.
