Keeping Up With the Kershaws by Helen Buckley / #Interview #BlogTour @rararesources @HelenCBuckley

What do you do when your life becomes more dramatic than reality TV?

As the devoted carer for famous antique expert Harold Kershaw, Karrie Morgan was always happy to keep a professional distance from his four spoilt grown-up children, who rarely made time for their father. But then a surprise involving Harold’s Will means Karrie is flung headlong into a press scandal, and into the chaotic world of the surviving Kershaws.
With the support of her trusted childhood friend Andrew, mild-mannered Karrie must face down ruthless ice queen Portia, master manipulator Gabriel, Botox fanatic Arabella, and ladies’ man Rafe, star of reality TV show Raised in Richmond … although perhaps not as fake and flashy as he initially seems?
As vicious rumours circulate and Karrie’s past comes back to haunt her, she struggles to know who to trust. Can she keep up with the Kershaws’ schemes?

Q&A

Which character would you like to be in this book?

I’d be Karrie – she’s lovely, kind, and inherits millions!

Do you always take a book/erader wherever you go?

I use the Kindle App on my phone so I can always read when I have time

Say someone asks if they can use your name in a book. Would you rather be the ‘good one’ or the ‘bad one’?

I’d want to be a character with a bit of a spark – perhaps a misunderstood villain

Do you prefer to read/write standalones or series?

I like writing series – I write standalone romances but they have interlinking themes and characters. I like finding connections between my stories and characters so I can revisit characters’ stories again.

Where can I find you when you are reading?

In bed snuggled under the duvet

Where can I find you wen you are not writing/reading?

Chasing my two small children around and trying to stop them fighting or smearing food on the wall

Can you walk past a bookstore without going inside?

I love browsing books, especially in a charity shop and looking through their random selections

What are you most proud of?

I am very proud that I started writing and managed to get some work published. I still don’t feel confident in my work. But the fact that people say they enjoy my stories means a lot to me and encourages me to keep going

What goes through your mind when you hold your new book in your hands for the first time?

It feels very surreal. Sometimes I can’t believe it’s really happening!

What piece of advice would you give to aspiring writers?

Keep going, don’t give up, and write a lot. You can always edit what you write so don’t be a slave to perfection. Drafts should be rough and messy, allow yourself the creative space to try out new ideas, then cross them out/ delete them, and try something else..

Thank you, Helen Buckley and Rachel’s Random Resources.

About the author

Ever since I was little I wanted to be a writer, to turn daydreams into books. I’m fascinated by fame, in love with Happy Ever Afters, and enthralled by slow-burn romances. I squeeze in time to write around looking after my two sons.
