The Greenmen – Linden Forster / #Interview #BlogTour @rararesources @LindenForster

Aereon has found the Creators.

He’s crossed seas and mountain ranges to reach them, tangled with dwarves and ogres along the way, escaped the clutches of an icicle wielding irate yeti to rescue them and now they tell him that they weren’t in any great need of help.

A revolution has sparked in the realm of Hudikvar, because of something things Aereon might have said to a troop of homeless youths. Now, King Victarian is after Aereon and anyone associated with him.

Local woodsman, Lars, has agreed to help them flee and be their guide through Oak’s Wood, but even he cannot guess what lies in wait for them within. Not now the Lord of the Primes is about to wake.

‘He’s got a touch of destiny about him, that one,’ said the Dealer.

‘Aye. He’s got a date with her, I’d say,’ said the Trickster.

‘And she’s ordered the lobster,’ said the Teller.

Q&A

Enjoy!

1. When and where do you prefer to write?

When I read or watch interviews of other writers a lot of them seem to be pretty much nocturnal, but that is not me. By 9 o’clock my brain is usually just about done for the day. On the other hand, if I get the chance, I do prefer to ease into my day. So, I’d say between 11am and 7pm is about the sweet spot for me.

2. Do you have a certain ritual?

As a rule, no. I don’t particularly like writing in the same place day after day. If I can, I’ll write at home for a few days and then get out to a café or someplace different on the weekends.

3. Is there a drink of some food that keeps you company while you write?

No usually. If I’m in a café, I’ll have a pot of tea, which keeps me going for a while.

4. What is your favourite book?

Probably Terry Pratchett’s Hogfather, but in truth it’s usually whichever Terry Pratchett novel I happen to be reading.

5. Do you consider writing a different genre in the future?

Yes. I already have folders with notes for several other project I hope to write someday, but for now I’m excited to see The Hero’s Arc to its end.

6. Do you sometimes base your characters on people you know?

Yes, but not intentionally. It’s usually when I read back over a character, I realise that I’ve put a bit of someone I know in them. Quite often it turns out to be me.

7. Do you take a notebook everywhere in order to write down ideas that pop up?

A notebook if I have pockets big enough, if not I’ll send myself messages on my phone. It is not an elegant system, but it is my system.

8. Which genre do you not like at all?

There is nothing that I won’t give a go. Although, saying that, I am yet to read a romance novel.

9. If you had the chance to co-write a book. Whom would it be with?

Definitely Neil Gaiman.

10. If you should travel to a foreign country to do research, which one would you chose and why?

That’s tough, there are a lot of countries that I think have fantastic rich history that can add a lot of flavour to writing, but I don’t remember the last time I went anywhere and didn’t come back with something that I wanted to put into a book. I think travel is important for any writer, no matter your genre and I try to do as much as I can.

The Greenmen – Linden Forster

Aereon has found the Creators.

He’s crossed seas and mountains to find them, tangled with dwarves and ogres along the way, finally had to tangle with an irate yeti to rescue them and now they tell him that they really weren’t in any great need of help.

As far as they are concerned, they were getting on just fine before Aereon showed up. In fact, now they have King Victarian searching for them, all thanks to Aereon’s mouth.

The trio, along with two dwarves, Volris and Silvor who have joined their party, must move. Aereon must get the Creators back home and fulfil his duty. Local woodsman, Lars, has agreed guide them through Oak’s Wood, but even he cannot know what lies in wait for them within.
