The Pepper Lane Club #1

Can a socialite and a technophobe fall in love?

A bubbly personality and a great job in social media didn’t mean that Willow Lawson had it all. Her love life was distant memory and her social life only work related. The maddening demands of life seemed to get in the way of finding time for herself or her friends.

She starts the Pepper Lane Club as a chance to step away from her busy schedule once a month to reconnect with her friends.

Thomas Greer, the proprietor of the Pepper Lane Café, annoys her. He’s her complete opposite; unsociable, serious, old-fashioned and dead set against social media.

Always game for a challenge, Willow decides to take him on as a client. She’s going to prove to Thomas that he needs her help. She knew she would be successful, she just didn’t know she would lose her heart along the way.

Can Willow fall in love with a man that doesn’t respect her profession? Will Thomas let go of his preconceptions long enough to get to know the real Willow? Enjoy this sweet romance as Willow finds love and friendship in the first book in the Pepper Lane Series.

Six women. Six stories. Six chances of love. One café.
The Pepper Lane Series follows the lives of six women as they share life, love and heartache once a month at the Pepper Lane Club. They might be an unlikely group of friends, but it takes all types to form a tribe.

Q&A

***

– When and where do you prefer to write?

I’m an early bird. I love to start the day off early, as this is when the words flow best. As I’m a creature of habit, I have a small office at home where I prefer to write, however the odd trip the café is great for new ideas.

– Do you have a certain ritual?

My writing comes first. I always write for an hour or two before opening up my email or scrolling through social media. If I don’t do this I become easily distracted.

– Is there a drink or some food that keeps you company while you write?

Coffee. Always coffee.

– What is your favourite book?

I don’t have a favourite book. I have lots. They all mean something different to me based on when I read them, and how I was feeling at the time. Some special ones include: The Time Traveller’s Wife, The Book Thief and The Art of Racing in the Rain.

– Do you consider writing a different genre in the future?

I’ll be sticking to heart-warming sweet romance for now. Life is busy and stressful, and I enjoy injecting some happiness into everyone’s lives.

– Do you sometimes base your characters on people you know?

Absolutely. Most of my characters are a mixture of me, and people I know, or have met throughout my life. I love taking bits and pieces of people’s personalities and traits and creating new characters based from this.

– Do you take a notebook everywhere in order to write down ideas that pop up?

I always have a notebook on me, and I’ve been known to email myself in the middle of night when an idea comes to me. I’m a bit of a blend of old and new – digital and old school.  I’m a little notebook obsessed, and have bits of ideas scribbled down in all of them.

– Which genre do you not like at all?

I’m not a huge fan of fantasy, even though I want to be. I have tried many times before but I find myself more attracted to stories based on real life. Perhaps one day I’ll read a book that will change my mind on this.

– If you had the chance to co-write a book. Whom would it be with?

I would love to write something with Marian Keyes. Her books are always such a pleasure to curl up with late at night. She gives you something to think about, while keeping her books fun and flirty. She also seems like a fun person to be around.

– If you should travel to a foreign country to do research, which one would you chose and why?

I once went to Kassiopi, a beautiful village and resort on the north east coast of Corfu in Greece, and I fell in love with it. I have wanted to go back ever since. I could easily imagine myself spending lazy days walking the beach, and visiting all the local cafés.  Although it is a popular tourist resort today, it is soaked in history and I would love to find out more.
