DCI Helen Lavery #3
When the mutilated body of a police officer is found in a derelict factory, the Hamptonshire police force is shocked to the core.
DCI Helen Lavery returns from injury leave and is immediately plunged into an investigation like no other. Is this a random attack or is someone targeting the force? Organised crime groups or a lone killer?
As the net draws in, Helen finds the truth lies closer than she could have imagined, and trusts no one.
But Helen is facing a twisted killer who will stop at nothing to ensure their secrets remain hidden. And time is running out…
1. Which character would you like to be in this book?
First, thank you so much for having me on your blog. It’s lovely to be here!
Goodness, that is a tough question. I think, on balance, I’d like to be DC Rosa Dark, one of the youngest detectives on DCI Helen Lavery’s team. What she lacks in experience, she makes up for in enthusiasm and, of course, she is young and beautiful!
2. Do you always take a book/ereader wherever you go?
Yes. I use the Kindle App on my phone and it’s always with me. Very useful when you are in the dentist waiting room😊
3. Say someone asks if they can use your name in a book. Would you rather be the ‘good one’ or the ‘bad one’?
Ooh, I think I’d quite like to be the baddie. It would be interesting to watch my character develop.
4. Do you prefer to read/write standalones or series?
I tend to write series fiction because I love working with the characters, again and again, and watching both their person and private journeys unfold.
5. Where can I find you when you are reading?
I read in bed every night, before I go to sleep, but also listen to audio books in the car, and occasionally catch a few pages if I’m out and about, waiting for an appointment.
6. Where can I find you when you are not writing/reading?
Either trudging over the fields with my dogs, Bollo and Digity, or spending time with my family.
7. Can you walk past a bookstore without going inside?
8. What are you most proud of?
My daughter, Ella. She has just left home for university and is a wonderful young lady.
9. What goes through your mind when you hold your new book in your hands for the first time?
Excitement and anticipation in equal measures! If it’s one I’ve been looking forward to, I feel like a child at Christmas.
10. What piece of advice would you give to aspiring writers?
Read as much as you can, in and around the genre you are interested in, and write something every day, even if it’s just a few lines of narrative. That way you’ll find out what you like and dislike and develop your own style.
Thanks again for hosting me!
Thank you, Jane Isaac and Legend press
