Q&A

– When and where do you prefer to write?

Mainly I write at my desk. But I can jot notes and edit whenever I feel the need – trains, buses, or coffee shops.

– Do you have a certain ritual?

Yes. One-hour social media every morning then I start to write. If I spend any longer it eats into my day and I fall behind with my own deadline.

– Is there a drink of some food that keeps you company while you write?

Decaff coffee and sparkling water. I also tend to nibble on cheese and crackers.

– What is your favourite book?

And Then They Were None by Agatha Christie. I’d love to go to Burgh Island in Devon where the novel was set. I’m in awe of Agatha’s imagination to gather a group of murderers together who all escaped justice!

– Do you consider writing a different genre in the future?

Yes, I love to write different genres. I started to write in romance then psychological suspense and now have ventured into cozy crime. I’d love to try writing historical fiction some day

– Do you sometimes base your characters on people you know?

Very often especially if my story is set in a work environment. I always change names ages and appearances though.

– Do you take a notebook everywhere in order to write down ideas that pop up?

Yes. Especially when I’m travelling. I’ve often looked at people sitting on the tube and wondered who they are. And, would their appearance suit the backstory I could make up about them.

– Which genre do you not like at all?

Probably science fiction.

– If you had the chance to co-write a book. Whom would it be with?

Harlan Coben. He is my favourite American crime writer. I’d love to be with him when his imagination invents certain characters and plots.

– If you should travel to a foreign country to do research, which one would you chose and why?

Italy every time. I love the culture, food and architecture. I’ve travelled throughout Italy but only flying visits to Verona and Florence. I’d love to return for a longer stay. Oh, and I haven’t been to Turin yet.
