The Marriage Trap by Sheryl Browne / #Review @bookouture @SherylBrowne

My husband has been keeping secrets for a long time. He thinks I don’t know what he does outside of this house. But I know everything…

Karla watches silently as Jason hurriedly packs his belongings into a suitcase. She knows that her stillness is unnerving him as she watches his every move from the doorway of their bedroom.

Clothes are screwed up and packed into the case, along with a watch she bought him for his last birthday and his precious laptop. He takes everything from his bedside table. Everything except the framed wedding photo, which now stands alone. Karla strains to see the smiling faces in the photo. If only she knew then what she knows now.

‘I’ve fallen in love with someone else,’ he’d said to her, just moments earlier. The brutality of those words hit Karla hard and she struggled to breathe as she took in each word in turn.

You may think you know what Karla will do next. But you’ll be wrong. Because Karla isn’t who you think she is. Only she knows what’s about to happen. And you will never see it coming.

Review

My 12th book by this amazing author already and she keeps on writing those amazing stories that glue you to the edge of your seat.

Sometimes everyday life asks you to focus on other things than your book and you would rather like to hide somewhere and continue reading. At this moment it’s my son studying for an exam and he likes me to test him. Each time he went on a little break, I went back to my book even though it was only for one chapter. I just was too intrigued 🙂

This story was built around liars and cheaters. Those people often say they did what they did because they wanted to protect someone. Well, I believe this is a bunch of lies too. In the end, when all is revealed you only end up hurting that person even more than you would have if you would have been honest from the beginning.

In the end there was only one person who did not lie nor cheat. They were tremendously suffering, but they, at least, had the decency to be honest. Needless to say they were my favorite.

Some of the characters were readily accusing others, while they should have stepped back a little and looked in the mirror. I did not like what I saw and I am convinced they would not either.

Anyway I totally enjoyed this book, but that’s no surprise. Sheryl Browne’s books are very, very addictive. 5 stars

Thank you
