A missing girl. A world of secrecy. A quest to expose the truth.

Jayne knows they’re gone, but no one else will acknowledge what’s happening.

One by one, they’re systematically erased from existence. No explanations. No missing person’s reports. No search parties.

Something sinister is afoot. Jayne can feel it in her bones. But uncovering the truth will prove difficult, especially when she discovers who and what is behind the devious plot.

As she searches for answers, she grapples with the lingering effects of a head injury, an unexpected forbidden romance, and a strange new reality that changes everything.

Will she uncover the truth, or will she be the next innocent victim?

Q&A

When and where do you prefer to write?

I started writing the book while commuting to and from London, on my laptop on the train. But the majority happens on my couch, with the laptop on a cushioned base, resting on my legs. I can’t write at a desk, as then that feels too much like work. I especially like to write after the midnight hours. The world is asleep, and hence, no chance of interruptions.

Do you need peace and quiet when you are writing?

I like to have music in the background, but otherwise calm and quiet.

If you had the chance to co-write a book. Whom would it be with?

William Peter Blatty. His book, “The Exorcist”, is possibly the most perfect story ever written. It’s a big claim on my part, but he writes as I do, and I would suggest he is the most significant influence on my style.

Say someone asks if they can use your name in a book. Would you rather be the ‘good one’ or the ‘bad one’?

The bad one, but hopefully the Anti-Hero. I never want to be the centre of attention, but if I can help the protagonist reach their goal, that will do me.

Who would you like/have liked to interview?

E. L. James. I find her funny and fascinating. My favourite actress is Elle Fanning, so I’d love to interview her. But I’d especially like to interview Baran bo Odar or Drake Doremus and ask if they will adapt my book for the screen. What they did with the Dark series and Equals, respectively, is beyond comparison.

Where can I find you when you are reading?

Either on a plane or simply in bed. My work often sees me travelling long journeys by car; hence Audible is my travel companion. I can’t read in public places or on the beach, way too many distractions. So, I’ll be tucked up in bed and most likely reading until the dawn hints at me to go to sleep.

Where can I find you when you are not writing/reading?

I work as an independent contractor in the IT sector for clients globally, so I’ll still be at my laptop writing software or database solutions. When I finally can peel myself away from work, I’ll be running or escaping to a forest or beach. I also love movies and escaping reality.

What goes through your mind when you hold your new book in your hands for the first time?

I had to read a particular chapter straight away. To see those words appear in an actual book. It was very emotional, and yes, I cried quite a bit. It’s been a long journey to tell and give credit to Jayne’s story. But I know only I could have done so. I feel a sense of pride and achievement after ten years of challenging work learning, revising, and not giving in. I’m also quite apprehensive about publishing the book.

How do you come up with a title for your book?

I didn’t even have to think of that. It came to me in an instant. One of my university degrees was with the Open University. Their foundation courses are the likes of “M101 Mathematics” or “S101 Science.” So, I often hear people refer to beginner subjects like Math-101, hence “Earth 101” fitted perfectly to introduce the novel’s universe.

How do you pick a cover for your book?

I worked with a brilliant artist, Andrei Bat, via the 99Designs website after seeing a link to a book cover from another Indie author. I liked that cover and contacted Andrei. He suggested that style was a little over-used and suggested we take things in a fresh direction. So, I scoured the web for hundreds of images and slowly but surely, formed a set of ideas. I wanted to suggest a romance, but more importantly, the science fiction aspect, so a potential reader would not expect one thing and receive another.
