Seduction… it happens every day on different levels. Your child seducing you to allow them something extra. Your dog seducing you to give him another treat. Partners seducing each other. Those are all innocent things, but there is the kind of seduction that crosses all the lines.
It’s about that last one this book is about. Yes, I know. The adult should know better, but adults are also human and sometimes, when the seducer knows which buttons to push, they take over not matter how old they or their ‘prey’ are. A few kind words or gestures addressed at a vulnerable person is often enough to set everything in motion…
Izzy is portrait here as the culpable one, but that’s a bit harsh. Her husband and daughter contributed to the way she feels now helping her make an easier victim.
Yes, Izzy should not have done what she did, but some people are such born manipulators you just don’t realise you are entangled in their web until it’s too late. Much too late.
I do admit some parts were too detailed and did not really contribute to the story line, but if you filter them out, it’s still a very shocking and enjoyable book. 4 stars

I write gritty thrillers with female protagonists, clawing back control and seeking justice for the wrongs that have been done to them. Many of the characters I write about have been exploited in some way or are haunted by their past experiences.
I have always been fascinated by how easily life can spiral out of control as a result of one snap decision or a bad judgement call. How extraordinary things can happen to ordinary people in the blink of an eye and the consequences that follow.
All my books are standalone stories, written in first-person and set in the Surrey and Sussex areas.
