Nora is as shocked as her friends and family when she quits a perfectly good job to become an extra in a Hollywood movie being filmed in Dubrovnik. She hopes it will help her move on from a painful break-up and give her breathing space to find out what she wants to do with her life.
To Nora’s delight she discovers that she loves every minute in her new “temporary” career. It doesn’t hurt either that the handsome assistant director, Ivor, takes more than a passing interest in her. But then events take a dramatic and unforeseen turn when Lucas Winter, world-famous actor and Nora’s teenage heartthrob, unexpectedly arrives on set…
The Stars Among Us is inspired by the author’s real-life experience of being an extra on the set of HBO’s Game of Thrones.
When and where do you prefer to write?
Whenever I have the time, I’m not picky since I only have a limited amount of time to write. It’s usually in my study on my desktop computer, which I bought especially for my writing since my laptop died on me a couple of times and I lost all my data, including the things I’ve written!
Do you need peace and quiet when you are writing?
Absolutely! My husband always has the radio on so I usually can’t wait for him to go out so that I can turn everything off and just think. There was also a time I used earplugs.
If you had the chance to co-write a book, whom would it be with?
That’s easy, with my mentor and friend Robert Bryndza. He has a terrific sense of humour when it comes to romance plots! I’m also a huge fan of his writing and kinda his groupie so I’m really nervous around him, which I guess wouldn’t come handy if we would be writing together.
Say someone asks if they can use your name in a book. Would you rather be the ‘good one’ or the ‘bad one’?
A baddie, for sure! Bad characters are always so much more interesting than the nice ones.
Who would you like/have liked to interview?
Colleen Hoover. I’m a huge fan of her books so I know it would be truly inspiring to talk to her.
Where can I find you when you are reading?
Mostly in my bed, but since I have a Kindle I like reading on public transport as well.
Where can I find you when you are not writing/reading?
On my couch. Binging through Netflix until 4 A.M.
What goes through your mind when you hold your new book in your hands for the first time?
Honestly, it’s halfway between being really excited and truly terrified that no one would like it. It’s the worst and the best feeling in the world at the same time.
How do you come up with a title for your books?
I’m horrible at titles and I really hate trying to decide, but what helps is that it’s always somehow connected with the plot. For example, in my second book, named Ti si moje sve (You Are My Everything) sentence “Ti si moje sve” is actually mentioned two times by two different characters and really important ones at that, so that’s how I chose that particular title.
How do you pick a cover for your book?
This “chore” I enjoy, but I’m a bit picky so I tend to drive designers and publishers mad. It simply has to make sense in my head and look exactly as I pictured it, otherwise I won’t let the book won’t come out. I’m really happy with both of my covers, although I’m still not talking to the designers (just kidding).
