The Perfect Nanny by Shari J. Ryan / #Review #BooksOnTour @bookouture @sharijryan

“My baby! You stole my baby!” Lara Smith is hysterical, her red lipstick smeared. A teddy lies abandoned in the empty crib. But I didn’t know the Smiths had a baby. I didn’t even know this nursery existed…

Lara’s husband—deathly white—dials 911 and says: “The babysitter has taken our little girl.”

I’m in shock. This is impossible. Because earlier this evening when the Smiths left for their fancy charity gala—Lara in high heels and a floor-length gown, Corbin in a tux—they never mentioned a baby. And they certainly didn’t show me this nursery room, up in the eaves of their sprawling, beachfront mansion.

The Smiths only hired me to take care of their nine-year-old twins, now blinking at me in matching horror.

As I’m taken away in handcuffs, I try to swallow my terror.

Because my being here is no coincidence.

When my own darkest secret is spilled, will anyone believe I’m innocent?

And who is really in danger: This perfect couple? Their missing child? Or me?

Review

Some parents have busy lives and they have the feeling they don’t spend enough time with their little ones as they should especially during holidays. One solution could be to cut back and take time off. Another solution could be to hire a nanny to help.

Lara and Corbin decide on solution 2 and it seems like they were lucky in finding the perfect nanny. This really feels like the start of a very good working relationship or is it the beginning of a nightmare. The question is who is haunting who…?

I was pulled into this story from the very beginning. There were so many characters I trusted one moment and would have run from as far as I could the next. I kept pointing fingers, but started doubting this decision just as fast.

And then suddenly, there was that dawning realisation…

A great book with heartbreaking passages, twists and turns and filled with riddles. I enjoyed this author’s first thriller a lot and this one was as wonderful. 5 stars

Thank you
