Restore Her by Cheryl Lacey Donovan / #Interview #BlogTour @cherylspeaksnow

The 7 steps of Healing, Enlightenment and Renewal

We spend our days rushing from one task to another at work and home only to drop into our beds at midnight , completely exhausted. Our society has changed a great deal since our parents were in their prime. Today we are addicted to speed, see busyness as a status symbol, take care of not only our children, but also our aging parents, and work as many hours as possible to keep ahead of the Jones’. It’s no wonder most of us ignore ourselves and our own needs. It seems like there is simply not the time to do more than grab food on the go and snag a few hours of sleep before starting it all again.

Is this you? Does this sound like your life?

If, you would like to begin the process of healing, enlightenment, and renewal, but don’t know where to start, you are in the right place. In this book, Cheryl will guide you through several steps imperative to the restoration process. By the time you are finished reading, you’ll not only acknowledge that taking time for yourself is worth the effort, but you’ll know how to make it happen. You’ll be totally on board and moving towards living a reality where self-care and filling your cup first isn’t a reward but a necessity.

Q&A

1.Do you always take a book/e-reader wherever you go?

I am a voracious reader; almost a necessity if you’re going to be a great writer. I do have my phone with me everywhere I go. When I am waiting in a doctor’s office, airport, etc. I do tend to take it out and start reading.

2. Say someone asks if they can use your name in a book. Would you rather be the ‘good one’ or the ‘bad one’?

I think I’d like to be the bad one because it would be the antithesis of who I actually am.

3. Where can I find you when you are reading?

I love to read outside listening to the waterfall flowing from our backdoor pond. It’s the serene place ever!

4. Where can I find you when you are not writing/reading?

When I am not reading, I am usually watching television, listening to music, or traveling. I love to travel. But I am not one of those who takes the touristy route. I like to walk the path less travelled. Learning about new cultures and exploring the city that I’m in brings me great joy. It lessens the divide we often see between people.

5. Can you walk past a bookstore without going inside?

Nope, not at all. And it’s so funny you asked this question. I really didn’t realize it before, but I think I make an even more intentional effort now to do so because physical brick and mortar stores seem to be dwindling.

6. What are you most proud of?

Writing wise I’d have to say I am most proud of the two awards I have won for my non-fiction works. Life wise I am proud of the opportunity I have been given to pour into the many women I have had the opportunity to mentor. Seeing them thrive and go for their vision is truly inspiring.

7. What goes through your mind when you hold your new book in your hands for the first time?

When I receive my books for the first time, I generally feel an extreme amount of gratitude because my ability to tell my story and that of others is truly a gift. I feel blessed to have been allowed to experience it and share it with others.

8. What piece of advice would you give to aspiring writers?

The piece of advice I would give to aspiring authors is that they must know their “why.” Knowing the “why” determines the outcome of your book’s success. If you’re writing just to get the words on paper and feel better about a particular situation that’s great. If you’re writing to transform lives that’s great as well. If you’re writing to make a million dollars, okay. And lastly being a successful writer is yet a different “why” You see, the “why” will determine how you move forward.

Being a “successful” writer is relative and must be determined by the individual author. One author may believe they are successful when people are impacted positively when by their work. Another may only feel successful when they make a million dollars or sell thousands of books. Either way you must do the work. As difficult as it may be to write the book, getting it the hands of the readers can be daunting. If, you are not planning to do book tours, blog tours like this one (thank you), speaking engagements, and just about whatever it takes to get your book noticed then monetary and sales success may be difficult

9. Who would you like/have liked to interview?

I would love to have interviewed Nelson Mandela. His fortitude considering such hardship was amazing. And then to still find love in your heart? Enough said

10. When and where do you prefer to write?

I write whenever it hits me. I have even been known to pull out my phone and write excerpts in the notes section. However, for the most part I write laying down in bed. Weird right?

Thank you, Cheryl Donovan
