Meet Me in Cockleberry Bay – Nicola May / #Interview #BlogTour @rararesources @nicolamay1

The cast of the runaway bestseller, The Corner Shop in Cockleberry Bay, are back – including Rosa, Josh, Mary, Jacob, Sheila, new mum Titch and, last but by no means least, Hot, the adorable dachshund.

Newly wed, and with her inherited corner shop successfully up and running, Rosa Smith seems to have all that anyone could wish for. But the course of true love never did run smooth and Rosa’s suspicions that her husband is having an affair have dire consequences.

Reaching rock bottom before she can climb back up to the top, fragile Rosa is forced to face her fears, addiction and jealousy head on.

With a selection of meddling locals still at large, a mystery fire and Titch’s frantic search for the real father of her sick baby, the second book in this enchanting series will take you on a further unpredictable journey of self-discovery.

Q&A

***

When and where do you prefer to write?

Once I start writing a book, there is no stopping me. I tend to write every day for a few hours. I prefer to write in bed as I find there are less distractions then

Do you have a certain ritual?

Not really, I can write at any time of day or night. A book and its characters tend to overtake my imagination and life whilst I am mid flow!

Is there a drink or some food that keeps you company while you write?

English Breakfast Tea and Walkers crisps generally.

What is your favourite book?

The Shell Seekers by Rosamunde Pilcher

Do you consider writing a different genre in the future?

I do love writing romantic comedy, but lately I have been thinking I’d quite like to write a crime/mystery novel

Do you sometimes base your characters on people you know?

I would say that every single character has either a piece of me or somebody I know in them. Maybe just a phrase somebody uses, or a look somebody gives.

Do you take a notebook everywhere in order to write down ideas that pop up?

I currently have a little gold diary, which I use for just that!

Which genre do you not like at all?

Science Fiction/Fantasy. I like to be in the real world.

If you had the chance to co-write a book. Whom would it be with?

David Nicholls. I think his writing style is so lucid and real.

If you should travel to a foreign country to do research, which one would you chose and why?

It would have to be Italy, for the climate, food and all those dark and handsome men!
