Withstanding the Enemy by T.L. Mahrt / #Interview #BlogTour @rararesources @tlmahrt

Emma Andrews was orphaned at a young age with no family to turn to. Tired of the broken foster-care system, and believing it was her only option, she runs to a multi-millionaire with a reputation of hiring young women. It is only then that she learns what real monsters look like…
Emma uses her overactive imagination to help her get through the toughest of days. By daydreaming a life full of love and freewill, she manages her colorless prison, but even in her wildest dreams, she would have never imagined it could become a reality. That is, until she meets Chance, a man willing to lay his life down to save hers.
But what Emma doesn’t expect is to fight her own personal demons—her heart.

Q&A

– When and where do you prefer to write?

I am a stay at home mom, so, my writing takes place mostly at home and after the kids are in bed. During the school year, I do get three hours to write with my youngest child is at Pre-K.

– Do you have a certain ritual?

Yes, I have a favorite place to write and it seems that I can’t start writing unless I have a large glass of water next to me with my headphones on.

– Is there a drink of some food that keeps you company while you write?

I always have a large glass of water by my side. And, more then likely, the water is flavored.

– What is your favourite book?

Gosh, I have several. I have to narrow it down to my top two favorite authors in my genre. It would be Helen Hardt and Meghan March.

– Do you consider writing a different genre in the future?

Yes, I am currently working on a children’s book with my daughter. I plan on using a different pen name to write in the different genre. I would love to write something in fantasy, I am a huge fan of that genre with my favorite author being Amy Bartol. I love all her books.

– Do you sometimes base your characters on people you know?

I would say no, however, I do sometimes write people’s personality traits mixed into my characters. I love 3D characters that are flawed and feel realistic.

– Do you take a notebook everywhere in order to write down ideas that pop up?

Yes! And if I don’t have my notebook, you can bet, I have a pocket full of napkins that are covered with scribbled down notes.

– Which genre do you not like at all?

I have a crazy overactive imagination, so, horror is not my first choice to read. I have and will read it. But, I struggle with it at times. I am a mood reader.

– If you had the chance to co-write a book. Whom would it be with?

Gosh, again, I have to say Helen Hardt or Meghan March.

– If you should travel to a foreign country to do research, which one would you chose and why?

I am probably going to said so lame, but Canada. I love the mountains and lakes. Cuddled up on a porch with a book, blanket and hot cup of java, sounds ideal to me.
