In Her Words – J.S Ellis / #Interview #BlogTour #LoveBooksGroupTours #InHerWords @Joannewriter

While she seems to have it all, Sophie Knight is looking for more. When gorgeous and carefree Michael Frisk
walks into her life, he offers the excitement and passion she desires.
Sophie is willing to risk everything she has. After all, she is used to concealing things from her husband—like
her alcoholism, her unhappiness. But soon she has more to hide. She wakes up one morning in an alcoholic
haze and finds bruises on her body, but has no recollection of what happened to her. Was she raped?
When unsettling notes and mysterious phone calls start, Sophie wonders whom she should turn to. Is Michael
the cause of the frightening things happening in her life, or is he the answer to her problems?

Q&A

Enjoy!

***

1.When and where do you prefer to write?

I like to write in bed or on the sofa and usually with headphones on. When the music is playing the creativity seems to spark better.

2. Do you have a certain ritual?

I aim to write three hours every day in the evenings after work. I try to write more on the weekends but life commitments do get in the way. Sundays is the best day for me.

3. Is there a drink of some food that keeps you company while you write?

Drink of choice to write for me is coffee if not green tea or water. As for food I’m a big cheese lover also chocolates and a nice packet crisps makes a lovely companion.

4. What is your favourite book?

My favourite book has to be 1984 by George Orwell I read it every year. What I do like about it is (some people might disagree with me) is I find it romantic. Okay, let me explain, you had this society where the government watches everyones move and still you had two people who managed to meet up and be together.

5. Do you consider writing a different genre in the future?

Definitely, I’m working on an adult dystopian series called The Chaperone.

6. Do you sometimes base your characters on people you know?

No, not really, I craft characters from my imagination although, I do get inspiration of physical descriptions from famous people.

7. Do you take a notebook everywhere in order to write down ideas that pop up?

Yes, I always carry a notebook with me where I ever go. I have a nice a collection of them in my drawer.

8. Which genre do you not like at all?

I enjoy most genres I believe to write you need to read outside your genre to get different outtakes and writing styles. If I had to pick the least is non-plot-based Erotica who mainly focus on the sex rather than the characters complexity.

9. If you had the chance to co-write a book. Whom would it be with?

I haven’t thought about it. I think it would be Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen who wrote “The Wife Between Us” and “An Anonymous Girl” it’s sounds ambitious but I liked how cleverly done was the Wife Between us and I loved Dr. Shields in An Anonymous girl.

10. If you should travel to a foreign country to do research, which one would you chose and why?

Cornwall, England. I’m working on mystery/thriller as well. It’s about Franklin his father died in a mysterious heart attack and was married to a younger wife. Franklin never met the wife as the father and son had a estrange relationship, he finds out she’s a survivor of attack that killed seven of her friends. The setting in the book is based on Cornwall so I would like to go there and see it in person. I’ve heard it’s beautiful.
