It’s nice to live in a neighbourhood where your neighbours are more than just that. They have become friends. There is a Whatsapp group for helping each other out, mom’s and children meet for play dates,ladies meet for coffee, … But there are downsides too of course. Aren’t there everywhere? The biggest one is gossip. People who are living close together often see things or think they have seen something and soon a molehill has become like the Mount Everest.
When you have a past you would like to keep in the past, it is very possible you feel claustrophobic. You are constantly looking over your shoulder, because you fear one day someone might find uut what happened and you will be exposed. With every day that passes you are convinced someone is out to get you and your life as well as your children’s is in grave danger.
Aren’t you lucky you can count on your trustworthy and loving husband? (insert sarcasm 😉 )
Every time I thought: yes, I know who it is, I had to change course, because of course I was wrong again. LOL Story of my life when I am trying to figure out who is the culprit in mysteries.
I felt for Harriet. I know she did not act like she should have in the past, but I don’t feel like she was to blame either. I do understand the feelings of the culprit too, but I felt they were a bit to harsh.
Anyway, I really enjoyed the story. I was an easy read with quite some possible suspects in my opinion. The ending might have been a tad chaotic. 4,5 stars
