Fatal accidents do happen. Or was there a plan?

A six-year-old dies in a car driven by her father. He barely survives. A simple hit and run? Yet the police think its murder. And who might be next?

The mother is out of her mind. If losing her daughter is not enough, why is she being stalked?

Q&A

When and where do you prefer to write?

I definitely prefer to write in the morning. I have an office at home and I write there. I usually write at the weekends when I know I won’t be interrupted!

Do you need peace and quiet when you are writing?

Yes, I love to have complete peace and quiet when writing because my head is too busy!

However, I have recently developed tinnitus so when it is completely quiet around me, I notice a buzzing in my ears! I have to listen to gentle music at a low volume to distract me from the tinnitus.

If you had the chance to co-write a book. Whom would it be with?

I already am co-writing a book actually! My seventh book has the input from a male writer. It helps to get a masculine view on things and hopefully evens out my female voice.

Say someone asks if they can use your name in a book. Would you rather be the ‘good one’ or the ‘bad one’?

Haha! Tricky one! On the one hand, I love the idea of being the heroic “good one” but the “bad one” is always a lot more fun, aren’t they?

Who would you like/have liked to interview?

I’d love to interview Marian Keyes. She comes across as so funny and personable. I’d imagine she’d be a joy to chat to.

Where can I find you when you are reading?

Usually propped up on my bed, cats lying next to me, listening to an audiobook, cuppa in hand.

Where can I find you when you are not writing/reading?

Taking a walk in the park or sitting watching a good box set.

What goes through your mind when you hold your new book in your hands for the first time?

It’s a wonderful feeling. All those months of hard work finally coming together in one glossy cover. It feels like such a great accomplishment.

How do you come up with a title for your book?

I think of the general overall theme of the book. For example, with “Under your Skin”, the main theme was domestic violence. The main character was also trapped in a basement (not a spoiler – we know this from chapter 2!). “Under your skin” signified a character being under the skin of her husband and also signified the character of Hannah being underneath in a basement.

How do you pick a cover for your book?

I think of the covers that really catch my eye. I am drawn to covers that have a woman’s face/ her sinister expression/ a close up of her eye. Literally eye-catching!

I then browse i-stock photos to find an image that I’m drawn to. Easy as that!
